Day 2 of Holiday Privacy: Lighten the Load in Your Wallet
When it comes to maintaining your privacy during the holidays, and year-round as well, steps must be taken to protect yourself both online and off. One way to do this offline is to lighten the load in your wallet when you visit stores. Take out any unnecessary identifying information (for example, if you aren’t driving, you probably don’t need to carry a driver’s license). Remove any extra cash that you won’t need, and consider temporarily lowering the daily limit on credit and debit cards.
The holidays are a time where pickpockets are especially active. They know that shopping centres will be crowded and people focused on gift-hunting rather than on other shoppers. If you carry a purse, make sure it’s zipped up and hold it in front of you. If you do happen to become the unwitting victim of pickpocketing, these steps will help reduce the damage done.
Come back tomorrow for another holiday privacy tip and check out the one from yesterday here!
