Day 7 of Holiday Privacy: Monitor Your Bank Transactions
Posted by Rhiannon
The holiday season is one of giving … and one of privacy risks, both online and off. Many shoppers are willing to throw caution to the wind in order to get the best deals on the perfect gifts for their special someones. However, holiday shoppers can have their presents, and enjoy personal privacy too. Check back every day from now until Christmas for new tips on how to maintain your private life both online and off during the holidays.
Day 7 of Holiday Privacy: Monitor Your Bank Transactions
Sometimes, risks with holiday shopping are too worth it not to take. If you do come across the deal of a lifetime from a less than trustworthy website, mitigate any dangers that may follow it by regularly monitoring your bank transactions. If a website’s security is lacklustre, or its data breached, noticing unauthorized payments as they happen is crucial to stopping them. By catching them early, you can end them in their tracks before more damage is done. Setting up online banking can allow you to check activity from anywhere and monitor your bank transactions. Even if you shop exclusively on reputable, encrypted websites, there is no guarantee that their data can’t be breached. Staying on top of your financial transactions is a great way to protect yourself at all times.
Come back tomorrow for another holiday privacy tip and check out the one from yesterday here!
